針磨橋 Bridge of Polished Needles

Updated: Jan 29, 2020

This Sekihi, or stele, is impossible to find.  Just as the main road through Gokurakuji descends into Inamuragasaki, this historical marker used to be found at the corner of an intersection; however, a home was built there and the stone has disappeared as of the time of this blog.  If it reappears someday, it reads:

This bridge is one of the Ten Bridges of Kamakura.  It is said that this name was given to a former craftsman who used to grind iron into needles.

Erected in March of 1928 by the Kamakura Seinendan Young Adult Association.
