This stone historical marker is located in the Komachi neighborhood at 小町2-22-11, along the busy street that connects Yukinoshita to Omachi. It reads:
This area was located between Yashiki Town and Merchant Town and was very busy because it was close to the Shogunate. In May of 1253, Nichiren Shōnin came to Kamakura from the southern Chiba Prefecture and lived in Matsuba Valley. It is said that this was the place where he stood along the roadside day after day and preached his street sermons (based on the Lotus Sutra).
Erected in March of 1936 by the Kamakura Seinendan Young Adult Association.
